Phew! One not to take your eyes off of this one, A lumpy, bumpy pitch one a large hill was never going to play host to a classic football encounter, but the United that turned up today played as a team, talking, listening and battling for each other. The game swung to and fro, Alderbury took the lead, Shaggy equalised. Andi put Hayling 2-1 up before Alderbury pulled it back level with a goal that had more than a hint of offside. Half time 2-2
The second half United to come out for and Alderbury went straight into a 3-2 lead, but instead of buckling United came back strong and Jo scramble in another equaliser 3-3, keeping up?
United were dominating now, but against the run Alderbury went 4-3 up. Time was fast running out, but a glimmer of hope still remand and after Alderbury went down to 10, due to a straight red, Hayling pilled on the pressure and when Sam, yes Sam fired a shot into the top corner United were level 4 each !
A cracking performance from everyone meant that the POM award went to the whole team and they all deserved it equally.
Kate was sharp off her line all day, the back four coped well with two trick and pacey strikers. The midfield attacked with the strikers and defended with the defenders and the strikers worked tirelessly all afternoon.
Well done girls, great game to watch.
Special thanks to Sarah Wakefield.
Se you all next week.
