Kick Off : 14:59 Meeting Time :

Similar result, totally different performance. Like chalk and cheese from last weekend. This result REALLY did flatter a Winchester side that last week were top of the Third division until the league decided to swap them with their struggling Div 2 side! We really aren't getting the rub of the green at the moment.
It looked rather ominous when Winchester went one up in the first minute, but United didnt drop their heads and the next half an hour was mostly played in their half. They did break away a few times, but Uniteds defence dealt with these attacks well. Winchester's second goal was totally against the run of play and 2 nil at half time seemed harsh to say the least.
The second half started as the first had ended with Hayling dominating possession and they were rewarded with a penalty for a blatant push in the back just inside the box. Gemma struck the penalty with plenty of power, but the keepers lack of mobility saved her and she had strong enough hands to palm the ball just over the bar.
This did seem to knock the stuffing out of the girls and four more break away goals followed, leaving a result that sooo does not tell a true story.
Kate made some good strong saves and was off her line quicker this week to thwart several attacks, 'new' defender Carla found her feet quickly at left back with Jo as brave as ever at right back. Eggy and Hazel were big and strong in the centre of defence and all the back five deserved better than this scoreline. The midfield battled hard right to the end, Gemma looked sharper today and Ang put through some descent balls for the strikers to get after, Andi, as usual, was as brave as a lion and Hayley seemed to cover every blade of grass. Jazz and Mel chased everything up front and only need one goal to get their confidence back up.
The result looks depressing, but the performance was so much better girls, the passing was more accurate, the tackling quicker and everyones effort level unfaultable.
POM this week was Eggy who looked back to her speedy best, must have been a tough call though with Mel, Jo and Hayley pushing her all the way for the award, having said that everyone put 100% in and if that continues the results, and the luck, will change.
Only away to Moneyfields this week girls, maybe we can catch them off gaurd?
